I never realized how many stages there were before actual crawling until I saw Uma hit every one of those milestones over the last few months. There's the hands and knees position. Then there's rocking, switching from sitting up to hands and knees, moving both legs together, moving the legs separately, balancing on one hand while the other grabs Daddy's glasses, scooting, and the occasional brief crawl backwards. I had a serious discussion with Uma about how her Daddy's credibility will be damaged if she doesn't crawl this month, a charge she vigorously rejected in her terse and sternly worded statement, "vuh."
