Thursday, February 02, 2006I salute youWhen Uma sees a mirror, she will now raise a single hand in a half-wave, half-salute to her dear friend Amu who lives on the other side. Last night, she woke up angry at about 11pm. I took her into the bathroom to get something, and, mad and sad as she was, she raised her hand in a solemn salute to herself.
A valuable skill that Uma has picked up in the last month or so is clicking her tongue. I shall have to find a Khoisan speaker so I can find out what we're saying.
Ordinary household objects that have become treasured toys:- Metal and wooden spoons
- Wire whisk
- Boxes
- Laundry baskets
- Pressing ham
- Plastic containers (and lids)
- Expired credit card (maybe just because she doesn't know it's expired)
- CD jewel case
- Baby body wash bottle (empty)
- Combs and brushes
- The cotton pads we (try to) put under her during naked time
- A sock
- A robe belt
- Washcloths
And many more.Labels: words
