Disequilibrium
No sooner do I post about our new bedtime equilibrium than it is shattered. Sometimes I think that Uma wouldn't be satisfied unless we both slept in her room. Actually, that's not true; that would work for a couple of weeks, and then I'd have to carry her until she slept. After a while, even that wouldn't work, because she'd wake up in the middle of the night and find herself in her bed. Then I'd have to carry her all night long.
It's hard to figure out what's behind our chronic sleep problems. Is it something that she was born with? Or did we mess something up early on, and now we're stuck in pattern of behavior that we can't break out of? Knowing that would help us figure out how to solve it. It would also help to avoid making the same mistakes again. I wish there was an expert to consult, but to make a truly effective recommendation you would have to live with her for a week or two.
