Tuesday, August 23, 2005action/reactionMiss Uma seems to be having a mild reaction to her rounds of vaccination, hence the early morning. She has a mild, 101° F fever and vomited once or twice. The former is a very frequent reaction, while the latter is not uncommon. She's weathering it pretty well, though; my girl's a trooper.

Saturday, August 20, 2005a public service announcementBabies have personal space, too. When admiring a stranger's baby, look, but don't touch. Don't assume, and don't ask. Miss Uma thanks you.

Thursday, August 18, 2005face plantLately, Uma has gotten a lot happier with being on her stomach. That's good for when she flips over, because it used to confuse her and make her angry. It's bad for sleep time. Yesterday morning, I went in to find her fast asleep on her stomach. Not only was she on her stomach, but her face was planted in the mattress, not turned to the side. Naturally, this worries us, but there's not much we can do about it. We could bolster her so she didn't turn over, but then she might be unable to sleep at all, and we've come to far with sleep to give up that hard-won ground. So, for now, we watch and hope she learns to turn over the other way soon.

Friday, August 12, 2005over and over and over againNow that Little Miss can roll over, she does it all the time. Problem is, she doesn't know how to roll back. So she rolls from her back to her stomach, struggles for a little while, then gets angry and has to be rolled onto her back again. What does she do then? You guessed it; she rolls right over again.

Thursday, August 11, 2005printsI have uploaded the photographs since June to Snapfish. At some point, I may upload April and May as well. These are the photos that you've already seen along with many bonus pictures never before seen on this site (call now!). I chose Snapfish because they were the cheapest of the well-known services. Snapfish doesn't let you make an album visible to the world, though, so people need to be invited individually. Let me know if you want in.

Tuesday, August 09, 2005The Uma Puma is also getting to be quite the cleve...The Uma Puma is also getting to be quite the clever and sly one. On Sunday, Ketan and I went into our parents' room to check in on Uma, because she is so darn cute when she is sleeping, and inadvertantly woke her up. Uma played for a little while, but she was obviously cranky, so my mom took her back inside to put her back to sleep. While rocking Uma, Mom put her hand over Uma's eyes so she wouldn't be distracted by all the things in the room (the window blinds had already been closed). After a few minutes, Uma was very quiet and still, so Mom assumed she was sleeping and lifted her hand. Uma's eyes were wide open and she gave Mom a big gummy smile as if to say, "Gotcha!"

Sunday, August 07, 2005Her Royal CutenessUma has been living up to her title despite not knowing just how very cute she is. She's a very happy baby, all huggy and snuggly, and it's so sweet when she burrows her head right up next to your neck, and grabs at you with her little fingers. Thanks to Uma, I now know I have neck fat; she grabbed a big chunk of my neck today in a valiant effort to prevent me from putting her down. If she can get her fist around it, she's going to grab it!
Luckily, Uma is rarely unhappy for long. Even when I put her down, she had a moment of discontent, and then she found her fist and life was good again. Uma, btw, smiles a a lot and it really doesn't take much to make her smile or laugh. And as for those jamming feet -- I swear she's going to grow up to be an Irish step dancer, because she's constantly kicking kicking kicking, especially her right foot.Labels: words

another first
Yesterday, Miss Uma had a hat trick of firsts. Besides rolling over, she also wore her first cloth diapers. She's quite concerned about the environment, as well as Mommy and Daddy's budget.Labels: words
